On Venlafaxine as few months. Doctor wanted me to double my dose of 37.5 after 2 weeks, but after horrendous side effects to begin, I didn’t want wish to.

forward to now and having eventually settled into them, I find they aren’t quite as effective. I seem very teary and down again. Doctor said to now try maybe double one day and 37.5 the next and gradually up dose that way. Just worried about more side effects/making me worse.

anyone experienced this and can be of any help from personal experience?

I was on this for three years. The side effects soon pass I found. Just be patient and persevere.

When my dose was increased I was told to take one 37.5mg in the morning and one in the evening. It only took a few days where I felt a bit 'off' then adjusted to it.

Did the increase help?

The increase did help for a while. But mine turned out not to be straightforward depression. I went on to be diagnosed with bipolar. But the increase did help with the depressive symptoms.

Be careful on this.
I was on 300mg for a while (highest possible dose)
Coming off them was a hideous experience.
They're great if they're working but horrible if they're not.

Yes the increase helped then after about a month I noticed things had felt a bit 'flat' again so was increased.
I'm now on 225mg which I take one extended release tablet in the morning and out of all the antidepressants I have tried this has made the biggest difference.
Only thing to be careful with is remembering to take it and try to aim for the same times each day. I find missing a dose or taking it too late gives me brain zaps and nausea.
Also when you come off it you mustn't just stop and the side effects can be horrible. The doctor should wean you off gradually.
