Hi all.

Going to make an appointment at my GP's for my severe social anxiety as I've finally had enough. Did it work for you, what were the side effects and how long have you been on it?

Yes it worked well for me. I've been on it over 4 years for anxiety/depression. It's been very helpful for me and has the least side effects with me. No issues with weight gain either. Good luck x

@classicaltwist hiya, currently on day 6 of taking it for a second time as I know it works. The side effects at the moment are flaming awful but I’m going to push through with the help of my gp xxx

Saved my life.

Still on it after 6 years but a much lower dosage and no side effects (ever).

Watching with interest as this is my plan B if my lifestyle changes don’t help

Yes it worked well for me for a time (10 years) but I decided to come off it in August (slowly decreased and free in November) because of the excessive sweating in summer and the dry mouth.

I used to dread summer, could never wear my hair loose or make up etc....

Tbh I feel physically better, not so thirsty at night and just generally "natural" however still coming to terms with my roller coaster emotions and have experienced a couple of mild anxiety episodes (really mild).

On balance, at the time it was a lifeline but made me a bit 'meh' about everything.

I was on it for 3months 50mg then to 100mg, no real major side affects, light headed & off food a few days initially, had to come off it due to major sweating once or twice a night, now moved onto Fluoxetine, currently 12days in

Growingupsad · 31/12/2022 13:07

Been on it for a month or so. First week the side effects knocked me for six and I had to take three days off work. I pushed through and now much better.

It felt so strange at first not to feel anxious all the time and not to have constant thoughts going around my head. I'm really glad I'm on it now.

Worked for my social and general anxiety. Didn’t have major side effects except excessive thirst/dry mouth. Good luck, I hope it helps you too.

It worked for my DH for anxiety the last 18 months and he recently tapered off it. It definitely calmed him and the only side effects after the first couple of weeks were sexual ones that can be common, but for us were positive.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 02/01/2023 17:22

It works for me for depression. It’s literally the best thing I’ve ever done, I’m a new person! I had one sleepless highly the first night I took it and mild nausea for about 2 weeks but nothing now.

SameKeyThough · 02/01/2023 17:49

For those who have had success with it, can you remember how long it took to work? I've been on it 7 weeks with no improvement really.

AreolaGrande · 02/01/2023 19:24

It didn't work for me.

It did help my anxiety/mood but completely killed off my sex drive/ability to orgasm and gave me lucid nightmares and horrendous jaw tension/pain.

Gave it 8 months in total as wanted to really give it a good go but am now back to managing my anxiety with propranolol.

Hazey19 · 02/01/2023 19:28

Yes I’ve been on them for about 6 months for anxiety and depression and I’m like a different person now, I can’t believe I struggled for so long. Only side effect I can recall is feeling totally wired for a few days but deliriously happy. That did settle after a day or two. Good luck x

fajitaaaa · 02/01/2023 19:31

Literally saved my life.

Been on it off and on for years.

The first 2 weeks on it are often tricky.

Sometimes feel a bit flat but it's better than the lows.

A good 3 months but worth speaking to GP about your dose in case you need to up it.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/01/2023 19:50

Never had any side effects, but getting off it is really hard work and takes months.
