Hello

Pls need your advice

My cousin is a single mother of 2 . She has been really depressed for some time and has contemplated suicide sometimes.

Her only motivation are her kids.

I'm worried for her and advised her to go to the GP TO maybe get some kind of referral or get antidepressants but she said if she does contact the Gp,she believes she risks losing her kids because they may get social services involved

Is this true pls ?

Thank you

No, social services won't be notified unless it's felt she is a risk or neglecting her children in some way.

Many parents are on antidepressants, they're so normal to take now. The doctor will probably give her some and also refer her for some councelling.
She has no need to worry.

All the best to her Flowers

She can also access Samaritans or message Shout during difficult times. And it's worth looking up mental health services local to you in case she can self-refer
