HIKOKIMORI PARENTS UK

Facebook Group.

Calling out for any parents who are struggling with someone in their family who is socially withdrawn and isolated.
Increasingly recognised, this disorder leads to young people completely withdrawing from life. Many are housebound for months or years even limiting interaction with their own family, often have disregulated sleep patterns and are commonly depressed or even suicidal.

It is a global phenomenon, and being recognised increasingly in Japan, Europe and the USA.
1.2 million young Japanese people are in this situation, and an estimated 12 million in the USA, seems to exist in large numbers in the UK but is not well documented yet.
More work needs to be done to heighten awareness of this issue, which brings sadness and worry to the sufferers and to their families.
As a facebook group we are researching and looking for ways to heighten awareness, work towards solutions and lend a sympathetic ear.
Join us on Facebook if this sounds of interest.
