Long term brain injury care

Wasn't sure where this thread best sat so forgive me if this isn't the right topic.

A family member who has both a serious alcohol addiction and MH disorders had a fall last year whilst drunk, resulting in a brain bleed. She had surgery and after a hospital stay of 10 weeks was discharged to a residential brain injury rehab centre.

She has now been there since April and as far as we know will be staying for the foreseeable. Sadly her side of the family have cut all contact with us and so we have no idea how she is or what progress she is making.

I am wondering how bad she must be in to have been a resident for the best part of 9 months and no discharge date planned. I do know that the centre has a robust community support team so feel she would be home if that was reasonably workable.

Does anyone know anything about brain injury recovery? We believe that physically she is ok so would it be a severe cognitive or behavioural impairment keeping her there?

I doubt anyone on here can give you a realistic answer but given you're a family member you should be able to get information directly from the rehab centre without having to go through her family.
