DS(15) has been very ill for nearly a year now. We've had 24 hour care within the home for safeguarding reasons, but actually DS is only just started a low dose antipsychotics, (it's taken mental health services that long to accept I might be right and it really really isn't just regular ASD and puberty despite it being bloidy obvious if you knew him before)

Long story short its gone legal and the other side have had psychiatrist assess DS. Now ive got over the shock he actually seems to be in agreement with me, verbally at least, im trying to get my head round the fact he's potentially recommending hospital inpatient stay. There's a possible alternative that we continue the home care and treatment. This theoretically would be better for DS but we're already 3 weeks overdue a badly needed fortnightly medicine review.... I'm worried the resources just aren't there to support proper treatment. There's a vague possibility that we might be able to push for a funded private admission.

Anyone any experience they wouldn't mind sharing? I'm feeling pretty lost atm.

We've not had an admission, we have managed with 24 hour supervision by us plus daily visits from the mental health team at each crisis point. She's autistic plus additional mental health illness too.

Sorry I can't be of any help directly but my friends son has been admitted (for 6 weeks) and improved a lot since and is now on a lower maintenance dose for schizophrenia

Thank you that's good to know about your friends son. Do you know was she allowed to visit? Was it close to home?
