Christmas

Had anybody spent Christmas on a psychiatric ward? Been told I will be here for Christmas without any leave.

Currently 5 hours from home so nobody can visit either.

Not sure I can get through not seeing my kids on Christmas Day.

Thanks

My DM is in the same situation.
Have you told the staff how you feel?

They all know but still think I am too unwell to be at home for Christmas. I pleaded and begged but they wouldn't change their minds.

I mean you need to let them know how much you are dreading Christmas Day so they can support you. I didn’t mean so you can be discharged.

Hi there

Here to offer whatever support I can. Have you got anything to do - boredom was always the worst thing for me when in, or should I say one of the worst things...

This may seem like a strange question, but do you have caffienated tea and coffee available? In early 2017 the ward I was on only provided decaffienated Shock and I think that may still be the case.

Are you allowed to call or FaceTime your DC on Christmas Day?
You could try and fill your day with having a bath, watching a film and saying to yourself it is only a day. Ask the staff for tips such as breathing exercises if you do start to feel stressed.
I found out yesterday my mum’s section had been extended and she will also be in a psychiatric hospital for Christmas.
