Mirtazapine 30 mg morning or night

I have been taking Mirtazapine since September 2021.
My GP prescribed it at a dose of 7.5 due to insomnia.
This worked well for a while then II upped it to 15 mg in May due to anxiety and then up to 22.5 in October and just two weeks ago due to depression I increased my dose to 30mg (related to family issues).
This was all done on the advice of my GP.
So, for two weeks my sleep has been good and my depression began to lift.
However, I woke at 3 am this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep.
I’m wondering if 30mg is too activating and should switch to taking it in the morning.
Has anyone done this?

I understand it's quite soporific so I think mornings would be tough

Thanks CaramalizedNuts that was my understanding too but that may only be at lower doses.
Anyone take it in the morning?

I have been taking 7.5 at night and 22.5 in the morning and , fingers crossed it seemed to be working.
I’m sleeping better and the mood is, relatively stable.

Mirtazapine is usually taken at night as it is a soporific as stated elsewhere,

Hijinks75 I have found taking 30 mg before bed helps me get to sleep but I wake about 2 hours later and am wide awake, hence the split dosing….so far so good.

for reasons that I don’t really understand, it is apparently better at 15 to help with sleep then at 30mg.
I’d ask your prescriber about splitting the dose as they will know your history and any other considerations such as other meds etc.

Only diet and exercise, mirtazapine is noted for causing weight gain
