Rectal pressure

I really need help before I have a breakdown. Last week I was suffering with loose stools which then went on to constipation. Yesterday I finally had a normal bowel movement but after a while I felt like I needed to go again but nothing would come out. This morning after going the sensation was there again but I did manage to pass small bits. What I'm worried about is this constant pressure in my bum. I just feel like I need to go all the time and I'm getting really worried about it. It's all I can think about. I've suffered health anxiety for so long now I don't know whats real or just anxiety

Might be internal piles from recent constipation. They can cause that type of feeling. Maybe speak to a pharmacist or your gp/practice nurse. When you do go you’re having a regular bowel motion now are you? You’re not still possibly constipated? You might get more responses on the general health topic for this.

There's a term - can't remember what - for the feeling of needing to pass a stool when you actually don't. I don't think its uncommon when bowels have been playing up. Give it a day or two and try to relax, put it out of your mind and don't strain. If no better then speak to gp.

Am not a doctor btw.

I do actually have external piles and they are pretty big. I've had them since I was pregnant with my daughter and she's now 18 months. I will wait and see how I am in a few days. Thanks

@Mummyto2123 how are you coping?

Mummyto2123 · 21/11/2022 14:32

I'm not doing too good. Trying to get my mind busy and hoping this feeling goes

Have you spoken to a doctor yet?

Mummyto2123 · 21/11/2022 17:23

No I haven't. Tried calling today but couldn't get through. Can't stop crying and having panic attacks

Oh you poor thing, I know its easy for me to say but try not to worry too much. Panic attacks are dreadful though, do you take anything for them?

Does your gp surgery offer an econsult service? If so I'd use that and explain its triggering your panic attacks too.

anxiety1000 · 21/11/2022 19:23

@Mummyto2123 oh sweetie I no how your feeling I'm going threw the same thing but I can't go to my doctor he's sick of seeing me and told me I need to sort my health anxiety out I'm so scared to see him again

Wibbly1008 · 21/11/2022 19:25

Sounds like internal piles. Get some suppository’s from pharmacy

anxiety1000 · 23/11/2022 17:09

@Mummyto2123 how are you doing now?

Mummyto2123 · 26/11/2022 12:55

I feel slightly better thank you. I seen my gp on Thursday who said she thinks its ibs and anxiety. I cried and cried to her and she was so lovely to me. I've to have a full blood count done and a stool test so hopefully these will come back clear and I'll feel better in my head. How are you doing @anxiety1000

@Mummyto2123 it's awful feeling like this hun I'm with you on that I've been suffering from vertigo an scared it's something eles then when I panic I think it's my heart I'm in a mess 😭😭

RoseValleyRambles · 26/11/2022 14:36

Well done. Keep telling yourself: it's probably something minor. The GP will likely be able to help address it if it does need treatment. If it's something more serious, which is unlikely, they will also very likely be able to resolve that. It's very unlikely to be anything really concerning. So you're doing the right thing in getting help, but there's no need to panic.

Did this ever resolve? I’ve been having the same pressure and it’s exhausting been the same for 4 months

TedLovesMama · 30/04/2023 09:45

Did this ever resolve? I have the same issue 10 months PP.

NervousBohemian · 30/07/2023 16:56

@Mummyto2123 you sound exactly like me... I've been having these symptoms. Did blood tests last week and now anxiously awaiting stool test results.
I've been really struggling lately and so many people say it's anxiety but it doesn't feel just like anxiety. Did your issues resolve?

S22 · 17/07/2024 13:34

Hey I have this too, can someone share what it was ?

StunnedCrab · 09/12/2024 08:28

Did you find out? I have the same 😔

StunnedCrab · 30/03/2026 21:59

Mine was pelvic floor dysfunction linked to stress - hypertonic pelvic floor.

Exercises and advice from pelvic floor physio really helped.
