Can anyone recommend a private psychiatrist for a comprehensive psychiatric assessment

For my daughter (20), GAD and social anxiety, ADHD

I would like someone to consider whether something else is going on - is there autism too

I want her diagnosis checked - is it really ADHD (current diagnosis) or could it be BPD for example

Serotonin levels checked etc

Evidence based up to date Treatment plan tailored to her needs rather than just the usual GP default

Am looking for an acknowledged expert in this area. Yes I can google but any recommendations please?

I realise it will be expensive

In the US, this type of assessment would generally be done by a psychologist who specializes in assessments, not a psychiatrist. Wondering if it's the same in the UK?

I don't think so

What are you looking for in terms of treatment plan? Psych normally deal with meds and psychology deal with the therapy side.

Also I've seen a few psychs and know people that have as well most private ones don't check serotonin etc.

Also where are you based?

Also just because you get a treatment plan privately doesn't mean the NHS will agree to it so be prepared for that

Watching with interest. Our dc (18) also has diagnosis of ADHD, gad, depression and a binge eating disorder. I wonder about the adhd and if there isn’t bpd or autism in there. Was told there was a reluctance to diagnose bpd until age of 21 due to developing brain. Also, not to pursue labels. But the adhd meds haven’t really been game changing and think there may be something else going on. Trouble is, most psychiatrists seem to specialise - and the first we saw was one who didn’t even think adhd was the issue …

I asked around my uk friends and I'm being told that it's a psychologist (like a forensic psychologist) who would do that type of assessment in the UK as well. Here is an example of a group that does that type of assessment. NOTE: I have no personal knowledge of this particular practice....it's just an example of the type of place that would do the assessments you are looking for.

@WWhatsitallaboutAlfie1 what area are you in?

I know a few who specialise in both but they're up Manchester way.

(I have ADHD and BPD- I went private for my assessments)
