5 weeks on citalopram

I've been on 20mg citalopram for now 5 weeks. Initially I had all the side effects you could get and felt worse but I pushed through and after a couple of weeks felt back to my old self. I've noticed the past few days 4/5 weeks into taking that I've experienced some mild anxiety again. It worries me as I get scared I will go back to how bad I was. As a single parent to 2 young children it's definitely not a place i want to be back at. Can anyone reassure me that this is normal at this stage, or should I increase my dose?

Hi how are you doing now ? This is common to happen . I have been on both escitalopram and citalopram and both times after the initial start up anxiety I felt so much better only to regress again around 5-6 weeks . Keep going it does take ages to stabilise then maybe in another month or so see how you are .

i am currently 2 weeks into 10mg of escitalopram after starting on 2.5mg in august then going to 5 then 7.5 . Still feel anxiety but not as bad as pre tablets

It's pretty normal. Up and downs happen and then a stage will come where you will find yourself stable. It's important you don't discontinue taking your meds. Discuss with your doctor. Stay on them for a while and depending on your situation, wean off them after a long time. Somepeople stay on them for years and then wean off. If you can't wean off, then also okay. There is nothing wrong in taking them indefinitely. I have been on them since I was 16. Now I am 32 and don't see any time going off them.
Point is stable mental health is key

I had the same issue, my doctor upped my dosage and put me on sick on work, I was off for 3 months and went back feeling my old self, I then managed to come off them aswell.

Try 10mg, cut them with a pill cutter. Also time of day makes a huge difference for some. After about sox weeks of taking it, it started causing anxiety and interrupted sleep. I switched to morning, i take it now 8-9am and it helped a lot. No anxiety or sleeplessness.
