Health anxiety. Terrified

I've suffered with external piles for a number of years and they've not really bothered me apart from when I was pregnant. I've had a few episodes where I've bled after a bowel movement which sets my anxiety off. Last week I had a bit of blood when I wiped then it went away then on Monday I was wiping, the first few wipes there was no blood but then I did get some. Now I'm worried as I have had anxiety about bowel cancer in the past. Would it come and go if it was sinister? I'm 34 so relatively young but can't help but worry

Is it most probably just the piles. I understand completely where you are coming from.

If you are worried, see your GP. But also perhaps seek help for your health anxiety? Sounds like it's impacting your quality of life.

It sounds like the piles - talk to the people supporting you with your anxiety and your GP if you and they agree that is right for you to do too.

Well I've not had any bleeding but my bowels are still loose but then I was constipated on Thursday and now I'm back to them being loose! I'm so scared

How are you doing op? I just wanted to come along with a hand hold as my health anxiety has flared up once again!! Mines surrounding any and all gynaecological cancer and I've had some very mild cramps post period (I track so I know it's not ovulation yet).

I'm not doing too well. I now have constant pressure as if I need to go to the toilet but nothing happens when I go. When googling this it's a symptom of bowel cancer. I'm really sorry your going through some anxiety aswell. It really takes over your life doesn't it

91BlackCat · 20/11/2022 21:49

The change in your bowel habits could be caused by your anxiety.

Mummyto2123 · 21/11/2022 09:01

I was thinking it could be my anxiety making it worse. I also have piles and they seem to get bigger when I strain like as of their coming out more. The fear is completely taking over my life it's all I can think about. My whole body feels numb with fear

I've had piles on and off since having DC. They often bleed. I just put Anusol on them and they shrink back down. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, eat fibre and exercise. If your bowel movements are still affected go and see GP. But it sounds as though you have anxiety that may need treating anyway.

Have you made an appointment at the GP?

TurkeyTrouble · 21/11/2022 19:08

I literally went to a consultant about this last month. She said everyone bleeds from that area at some point in their life BUT it's the symptoms that go alongside it that matter & be indicative of possible further investigation. I had no symptoms except the intermittent bleeding & that's stopped now I've added more fruit in to my diet. However don't let MN be your only diagnosis method, get to the GP to be absolutely sure.
