It's been like this in the last few months...every time before my period I feel so terrible that I have very bad thoughts. I feel like I want to cry all the time and it's feels like extremely hard work to compose myself on the daily basis...
It's gets better as soon as I get my period. Any idea what is going on ?

Yes. It can. See your GP to get some help. It could be pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder.

I agree. Look into PMDD

Yes, I’ve had similar. Really low mood, paranoia, get extremely upset very quickly - so reactive to everything! Get to the point where I just want to end it all. My bloods were normal but GP started me on a combined contraceptive that’s higher in oestrogen, similar level to HRT apparently. It doesn’t happen at all now.

Depending how old you are it could be a signal that you are peri-menopausal.

I had never really had any noticeable PMT symptoms but a few quite frightening, very short depressive episodes just before periods, was the kick I needed to get onto HRT

I am 33 so I don't think it is pre manopausal, but who knows ?
Symptoms of PMDD pretty much describes how I feel. I am also not taking any contraception...as there is no need for that as I am single..but I am also going through some very traumatic time..as was thinking maybe that is worsening my pre menstrual symptoms?

I take Sertraline for 2 weeks before my period due to PMDD. It’s made a huge difference and is actually a recommended treatment for PMDD.
