What anti deppresants do you think would be suitable for someone to start off with ?would it be sertaline

Like what’s the first line of action the first go to medication

my stress has been cause by building work going on for months and months living in an upside down house and mess and things going wrong

Have a look at Citalopram.

Go to the doctor and let them advise you.

Sertraline is excellent and well tolerated by most.

Sertraline has been a life saver for me. Fluoxetine (Prozac) gave me terrible restless leg syndrome that made things worse as I couldn’t sleep.

I am on setraline and so far so good.

Why wouldn't you ask your doctor about this? As far as I understand it, the ADs have slightly different characteristics. I have had Sertraline twice, 20 years apart, and it was helpful both times.

Sertraline, Citalopram and Fluoxetine are all first line medications.
Any medication could have side effects, you have to see what works for you. Be careful with people's anecdotal advice as everyone is different.
Sertraline seems to be prescribed more often at the moment, a decade ago it was more so Fluoxetine. Prevalence is probably related to cost and availability.

Just be aware that medication should be used as part of the wider picture. They aren't miracle drugs. The hope is the enable you to cope better and make changes.

Oh yeah I know it would be upto the dr just wanted to hear what other peoples experiences were
but that does make sense it’salso to do with cost and avaljbilty etc

They always start with either Sertraline or Citalopram as they are the most widely tolerated then branch out if necessary.

It may be different for teens, but my DD was prescribed fluoxetine.
