Seriously Mentally Ill Tenant Dumped In Privately Owned Flat
In our block of flats we have a registered mentally ill male tenant aged about 50; in the last two years he has caused an amount of criminal damage which we as Leaseholders have had to pay for. He has cut down all of the trees surrounding the block, neighbours are now complaining that we can see into their rooms at night, he urinates in the stairwells, burns incense unattended in the corridors, gets loads of free newspapers and screws them up to litter the car park. And he is violently abusive and homophobic to all who oppose his behaviour. He has forced one elderly lady to sell up and move out. He has also severely harassed another elderly neighbour with threats of physical abuse and who subsequently died from a heart attack. Now he is currently stalking me thereby causing me great distress. We regularly had to dial 999 to get the police involved especially when he was in a drunken rage. However the police have now closed all cases against him.
Actually in the 50 years I have had a flat here, there was not been one year when we didn’t have a mentally ill tenant in residence. These have invariably been dumped there by Social Services without any support. The expectation is that our community would support them. However this never happens, we are not trained for such and do not want that responsibility. So then the drug dealers move in, or the tenant is lonely and stops taking medication. Then the trouble starts with drunkenness, criminal damage, vandalism, arson, theft of mail, etc. Those homeless from St Mungos are just as bad too.
So due to our rogue tenant stalking me I voluntarily applied to join the local Talking Therapies programme. However the therapist was at least 45 years younger than me and was clearly not of my generation.
This therapist failed to support me as a victim of his bullying actions against me; taking offence that I did not seem to be able to cope with his anti-social behaviour. At our last session she stood over me - invading my personal space - and demanded that the session be terminated (30 minutes early). She also stated - without explanation - that she would have me removed from the Talking Therapies process, and also threatened to inform my GP.
Despite my formal complaints to my GP and Talking Therapies nothing has been said or done. I am frankly disgusted that a vulnerable and elderly person such as myself should be treated in such a dismissive manner. But I am really not surprised - the high and growing number of those with mental issues and suicides amongst the young and elderly is a national scandal about which the NHS - in its extreme wokeness - seems disinterested.
However in my case I shall be investigating legal action and Advocacy, and raising the issues of culpable neglect from Talking Therapies with the media. And yet another mentally Ill tenant has just been dumped here.
