Autistic DB 25y/o - antidepressants?

Hi all,
I don't know if anyone can help or if anyone has any experience...

My lovely DB is 25 and has severe autism. He can talk but he's completely incapable of living a normal life. He goes to a day centre 5 days a week and lives with my DPs who do everything for him.

When he was younger he was a happy little child despite his problems and although rather naughty he was a nicer person to be around.

As he's got older and become a man he's become more and more vacant looking and has no interests or any kind of lust for life. He's been on antipsychotics for the last year or so which have helped him when he gets angry but they've almost made him dull and depressed.
I feel like antidepressants may be a better option for him and I'm trying to persuade my parents to push for this. Also the antipsychotics have made him put a lot of weight on.

Does anyone have experience of autistic young men and what might help? Thank you.

I should mention he's not violent so coming off the antipsychotics wouldn't cause any issues to anyone else..

I see your concern, but I don't think it is your place to make that call. I think suggesting to your DPs that an appt with the Dr to check the medication and see if any alternatives are available would be a better strategy.
