Came in early hours of Saturday morning. On a section 2. Not even allowed out for fresh air or a smoke. Bars on all the windows. It's making me feel so much worse than before but I can't escape.

If you are on a section then you are entitled to free legal representation. Just ask the staff for the list of solicitors and they can contact one for you to give you the advice you need. All the best.

I already have a solicitor, but appealing a section takes a long time. I don't want to be in this prison that long.

In better news I'm apparently going to be allowed outside with a staff member for 15 minutes today.

They just want to help you get better. Please work with them and hopefully you’ll be feeling better and get home.

Being locked up and bored does not make me feel better. Anyway last night's surprise was being given an hour to pack my stuff as I was getting moved to a different hospital.

You are not in prison, the staff in the hospitals are there to help you. You must be there for your own safety.
All the best in your recovery.

While I've not been in your shoes, both MIL (who spent most of her life in one) and SIL have and I understand why you feel this way, based on what they have told me. DH has always said that mental hospitals are not really designed to help people get better. They are of course but because everyone is mentally unwell it doesn't help individual peoples mental health. It's a catch 22.

I don't have anything practical to offer I'm afraid. All you can do is try and cooperate and get people to hear you.

So the new hospital is slightly better as I'm allowed 6x15 min smoke breaks each day. Those breaks are all I have to look forward to. Otherwise it's just deathly boredom all day long.

Do they have any activities you can join in with?
