Switching meds - is it back to square 1

After a long time (15+ years) on citalopram, and a year spent trying to resolve the awful anxiety and depression which hit last October, my psychiatrist thinks it may be better to switch the citalopram for sertraline. I'm also on mirtazapine, but only been on that a month, as well as olanzipine, propanalol and lorazepam. All of which have helped to a degree but not kept me well.
My question is, if I swap to sertraline, will I have to start from square 1, ie wait the usual 6 weeks or so for any improvement, or will the fact that I'm cross tapering from another SSRI give me a head start so to speak? Does anyone have any experience of making the switch? Thanks

Anyone? I think I may need to make a decision when I see my psychiatrist on Monday. Very scared by the prospect of switching as I had a terrible, terrible time increasing my citalopram last year.
