Helping anxious child

DS is 10 & suffering anxiety.
I'm trying really hard to listen and help. Suggesting exercise, reading, colouring, cooking with him, cuddles, early nights etc...
It's manifesting in physical symptoms: feeling sick, headaches, aches and pains.
So he has missed some school.
I'm talking to his teacher today.
He finds school really stressful.
He was the happiest, most easy going child when he was smaller.
He's popular & bright. Has lots of friends. But his learning is suffering.
I think school is just full on.
There are lots if kids with additional needs in his class.
He gets very upset at shouty teachers.
I am feeling like I'm failing him. Please, can someone who has been through this make any helpful suggestions?

Is it just school that's making him anxious due to the atmosphere in his classroom?

Or is he being bullied/picked on?

Thanks for replying.
He's not being bullied.
He says he doesn't know why he's sad & anxious.
He talks to us a lot. He is very emotional.
It's so hard not having a concrete reason

@AutumnalCosyness how are you getting on OP? I also have an anxious child (not school related though) that seems to be escalating. I’m looking into counselling/psychologist but it’s really expensive.

CantSleepCountingSheep · 03/11/2022 15:41

Looking into counselling too.
Yes it's expensive. But school are not resourced enough to be of much help.
He's so sad. It's heartbreaking.
I honestly don't care how much it costs me at this point.

Same here with the school-they have helped as much as they can from a nurturing point of view.

Working through something like this might help.
