Is there any legal drug or preparation for immediate anxiety relief?

Does anyone know if there are any over the counter medictions that give instant anxiety relief? Someone i know is experiencing severe anxiety. They will probably ask their GP for something like sertraline which I've heard works well for anxiety, but I keep hearing horrendous stories of how rtough the first few weeks are. this person can't afford to get worse before they get better right now - they have just started a new dream job, in a new place with a problematic flatmate and landlord, as well as several other big pressures and commitments. They just need something to take the edge off the sickness and lack of sleep and social anxiety.

Do Kalms work? Or Rescue Remedy? Would an antihistamine work to help them sleep?

Rescue Remedy

Rescue remedy, an anti histamine and a warm milky drink with honey and listen to something soothing on the radio to distract. Good luck, anxiety is horrific Flowers

Vitamin B complex, injected for super fast action, but I take it in Berocca effervescent. It will help but not just by itself

Sertraline works quite quickly for anxiety, normally in a few days.

GP might also prescribe beta blockers for immediate stress related to anxiety?

Vit b and magnesium.

Check out the symptoms of a lack of these, tend to cover lots of the same symptoms as anxiety.

Best remedy is meditation, works very quickly once you have mastered it, but that takes some practice. Honestly amazed when I realised I could spend an hour thinking about nothing!

Thank you all so much for the quick replies.

I did buy them magnesium and B6 already as I heard they were good for ADHD (diagnosed but not yet medicated) but they said they keep forgetting to take them. I might get them some rescue remedy too, in case it helps.

Good to know sertraline is fast acting for anxiety. They are hoping to see a GP soon but I want to support them in the meantime.

Look into EFT tapping therapy and ASMR videos on YouTube. I also agree with a sedating anti histamine like Phenergan.
