Got scammed - now anxious and doubting everything

I got scammed over the phone last week, and immediately shut down all banking accounts (set up new ones!) changed passwords, etc. etc. and have fraud alerts on credit agencies. BUT - I feel so anxious all the time! Just jittery inside, diarrhea, can't sleep.

I have been walking miles and miles whenever I can to help with the anxiety, and put in a call to my Dr about it, but. have not had an answer yet. Drinking mint tea seems to help just a little, and I do have something for the diarrhea temporarily, but does anyone have other tips for me to feel more calm?
I like to think I am intelligent and could avoid a scam, but it really caught me at weak moment, tired and hungry; now I just feel like an anxious idiot.

Ah you poor thing. You're not an idiot - quite the contrary! It's a natural reaction to keep yourself safe after a shock. It will pass. Distraction may be good at this point.

Just to say, I got scammed over the phone last night and it's such a massive feeling of violation, I totally get your anxiety as I feel that now. Hope you're ok.

Thanks to you both for answering. How do you deal with the anxiety? I am gradually getting things figured out, but it is not easy, and I am not used to this level of anxiousness.

I'm not sure I am dealing with it. I'm feeling really freaked out about how I'll ever trust anyone on the phone again - even when I phoned the banks main number on their website to report the scam I kept wondering if the person I was speaking to was for real and whether it was someone at the bank who had sold all my details to the scammers. They gave me a safe word for extra security but I feel like if someone can find all my personal details and card details then they can probably access the safe word as well. Im hoping it will get easier with some time but suspect the anxiety is just something I'm going to have to learn to live with.

Everyone thinks they're too intelligent to fall victim to a scam, I can 100% guarantee you that they are wrong.
Anyone can fall victim to a scam, all it takes is the right conditions. It even happens to police officers, psychologists and bank workers.
Please don't be too hard on yourself x
