Hi I was taking 20mg of Fluoxetine and as I'm still a complete basket case have gone up to 40mg.
Doc says its ok to still breastfeed but I'm a bit worried it will affect DD.
Anyone else on this dose?

I'm on this dose, although don't breastfeed. I'm sure the doc woud'nt tell you it was safe if it was'nt. Sorry can't be of anymore help.

Hope you start feeling better very soon.

I took 20mg of paroxetine throughout pregnancy and 18 months breastfeeding. I would have increased the dose if necessary; my GP was very reassuring, she said that half the pregnant women/nursing mothers on her books are on various doses of SSRIs and that there's no evidence that it does any harm.

Thanks, most people seem to be on the 20mg dose and I just wondered if anyone else was on a higher dose and if they had seen any ill effects in the babies.
Why didnt the lower dose work for me, it seems to for most people?
Just want this to bloody go away before it destroys my marriage as well!
Are there any "I was nuts but now I'm sane accounts from anyone out there so that I can be hopefull that I'll be normal(ish) again.

Don't feel bad, it's not your fault, and you are doing what you need to to keep your show on the road. FWIW, I was very nutty indeed before SSRIs, and I'm now pretty consistently sane, but I certainly don't envisage coming off them any time soon. 20mg is the lowest clinically effective dose and 40mg is still a low dose. I know people who take 100mg per day.

Oh, I thought 40 was a high dose I feel a bit better now then, perhaps I'm not that nuts after all!
I think pretty nuts things though and have OCD to boot which I've had since puberty really.
I may start an OCD thread as so many of us seem to get it postnatally, I wonder why?

60 mg is the usual dose for OCD. Psychologist couldn't believe that 20mg would do anything for my OCD, he thought it was far too low a dose - HAH, proved him wrong

Wont see you on the OCD post then
