DS - starting ADs

DS has a history of depression going back 3 years. He's never seen anyone except the GP due to COVID / difficulty scheduling appts. I should have tried harder to get him there.

He's struggling again. Away from home starting uni. He has a GP appt this week.

What's likely to happen? Could he be prescribed ADs on a first visit? Would starting them unsupervised be unwise? Should we just be bringing him home and forgetting about uni this year?

One of my sons sufferers a variety of mental health issues.i convinced him to talk to his uni. They were brilliant and have really looked after him. Checking up on him referring him to in-house services so no waiting for help.he didn't want to come home and resat second year.
Would he talk to his uni as they might be able to help.
