Health anxiety - does medication work?

I have terrible health anxiety at the moment, currently just been through a scare with lymph nodes, had a CT and haematologist said will see me for a follow up in 12 months.

Anyway i HATE my body now, like absolutely hate looking at it, to the point where i have force myself to shower because i know i will be so tempted to investigate for a lump.

My therapist said medication may be beneficial but would like to hear of others experiences? :)

I haven't had medication for this specifically
but I have been medicated for years, and before that, and during attempts to come off them, I found myself scanning other issues for potential disasters. Like catastrophising in advance, if that makes sense.

may be worth giving meds a try?

Sertraline has helped me a lot.
