UC Sanction

I was sanctioned for not attending my appointment a couple weeks ago. Back story is I have agoraphobia and I can’t leave my home. I haven’t been out in around a month. I’m not registered to a GP as I moved house 3 months ago and have been too anxious to go. The job centre would require me going on a bus and walking 7 minutes through a busy town centre and I’ve been panicking all week about it. I need to go to an appointment today to end my sanction but the thought of doing it is making me ill. What can I do in these circumstances? I have no diagnosis, I don’t claim disability benefits, I have to look for work 16 hours a week

Unfortunately, you will have to attend the appointment if you want to keep your benefits.

You also need to register with a GP - many do allow you to register online and will email you the forms if you have a mental health condition.

You may be able to call them and ask if you can do a phone appointment? But I know they have toughened up on that route now.

It's a horrible system.
