My mother has Bipolar Depression and been sectioned 3 times in the last 15 years. She is now in her early 70s and seems to be deteriorating very rapidly... she was awaiting a hip operation for 3 years (delayed due to pandemic) and now she's had it, she's not really recovering at all. Very slow and still, practically immobile. Now been hospitalised and is in nappies.
We are trying to get her physical and psychiatric help, but they've adjusted her meds and no change.
Does anyone have experience of how Bipolar affects the elderly? Wondering what to do, what to expect, if this is normal.... Such a scary situation.
