Hi there, I'm 17 and think I possibly may have adhd, I know it's best to speak to professional just want some advice, I suffer with quite bad concentration and it's only in certain situations I'll be able to concentrate I hope these don't come across as weird but here are some examples if I'm watching the tv I need to have every way to watch it for example turned up and subtitles on as I feel like if they aren't on I can't fully take in what's going on, or if I'm reading it'll take me a good while to read over what I'm supposed to be taking in, I also struggle with I call them "obsessions" so every few week I see something I become very fixated on wheatger that's buying or making something and I know I only have a week maybe two max where I'll be hyper fixated on that certain thing and everything else doesn't matter and it's the only thing on my mind to the point where it's so overwhelming I can't eat because I'm so anxious and nervous because I have to have it done and sometimes it takes over everything, I also am not good in social situations struggle with friendships and maintaining them and cannot be in a certain social situations for to long, I do suffer with quite bad anxiety have done for years and someone mentioned this and the possibility to look into it, I've never really thought I fit in very well I always have extravagant ideas and lose interest at the same time very very easily, I have a lack of emotional stability and one moment I can be fine and the next instability, I just don't want to feel like the odd one out anymore and i haven't heard anyone experiencing similar things so wanted some advice many thanks 😊

Hello!

You sound like one of us. And you will want to speak to your GP and ask for a referral.

I would advise googling for the online test, then printing it out and bringing it into the GP appt filled out already :)

Op it might be worth posting this in special needs, there are separate boards for neurodiverse adults, children with special needs and more. ASD and ADHD is discussed a lot so you might get more information and responses. I am ND myself and have been through having my daughter assessed and diagnosed with ASD and I've found the special needs boards really helpful
