Hey, I've had a few threads on mental health and have appreciated the advice.
I have been prescribed Trazodone for anxiety and chronic insomnia. I have only taken it the past 2 nights but it hasn't done very much for my insomnia, I got 2 hours last night.
Does anyone know if it has a cumulative effect? I thought it would knock me out the 1st night but it didn't really.
Can I ask about people's experiences are of this drug, particularly in relation to chronic insomnia.
Tia.

Hi I’m on trazadone. I think it’s helped with my MH issues (it’s probably the 8th anti d I’ve tried plus I take other MH meds. It doesn’t make me drowsy however but I have terrible insomnia.

I have 50mg at night and wow it does knock me out sometimes within minutes - how much do you take?

Hi Misskitty,

I don't have any experience with Trazodone, sorry.

I just wanted to bump your thread and say hang in there. Not sleeping sucks.

I found zopiclone helpful with my sleep, but that was just for a short term problem.

I can only suggest sticking with it a but longer and seeking medical advice if it still doesn't help.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon x

Thank you for your reply. Yes I've been put on it because I tried so many different SSRI'S and didn't get on with them at all.
I have been so spaced out taking it but it hasn't really helped either the insomnia 🙄
I've decided not to take it while I have a 4.5 year old to look after, particularly now she's off on school holidays.
Sorry to hear you suffer from insomnia as well, its absolutely debilitating isn't it.

I took 50mg, it knocked me out for 2 hours then I was awake again for the whole night and felt so spaced out the next day.

Thank you so much for your reply, its really kind. I've had zopiclone on and off since last October, it doesn't work on its own anymore.
Ironically I've felt a bit better with my anxiety, if I could just sort my sleep out, life would be much easier! X

I take it for anxiety and insomnia. It took a week or two for the 50mg to settle down. When increased to 100 my sleep massively improved. As long as I don’t use screens in bed, I doze off much easier and more importantly stay asleep and feel great the next day.
