Another thread for support

6 weeks ago I started 10mg, which increased to 20mg 2 weeks ago. Still feeling the same. Doctor today has increased to 40mg which I will start tomorrow.

Has anyone else been in the same situation and have positive stories for me? Dreading going through side effects again

Could you do 30 first to minimise side effects

purplebutterflybiscuits · 26/07/2022 20:49

I have not tried citalopram, but have been on different doses of a few different anti-depressants over the years.

I found them very helpful although it did take a while to feel the benefits and I remember those early weeks being very tough and feeling very frustrated.

Stick with it. It gets better. I found that very hard to believe at the time, but you will get there x x

I have been on 40mg of citalopram before. I found the side effects of going to 20mg were worse than going to 40mg - I think my body had got used to it a bit. They improved things for me a lot though.

40mg is a good dose. The side effects pass quickly and tbh I can't remember if there was much difference between 20-40

Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon

Id do 30 for a couple of weeks first.

Painintheass22 · 29/07/2022 11:35

Hi everyone

Thank you for ur replies. Doctor had prescribed me 40mg but I chickened out and asked to prescribe me 30mg first. This is my 3rd day taking them and my palpitations are quite shocking today. I look so tired and haggard, this whole thing has me completely drained. I just want to feel me again.

I had to reduce back down from 40 to 30 because my palpitations were making me dizzy.

Painintheass22 · 30/07/2022 18:55

Motivation zero. And I can’t stop eatting everything in sight. Heart palpitations dreadful.
