Hello! Been on mirtazapine for few weeks taken at bedtime for anxiety, ocd, relentless intrusive thoughts. Also meant to be doing cbt but counsellor has had to cancel a few sessions.

It has been a godsend for nights as it sends me to sleep and if I wake in the night I also feel fine but I dread the mornings and the days in general as constantly terrified of my thoughts and on verge of tears.

I think cbt is likely to be the answer long term but whilst I wait for a regular appt I have read lots of people have taken mirt with either sertraline or citralopam. Has anyone with similar challenges done this and found it helpful? My GP alnost always says “what do you want me to do?” on the rare occasion I get an appt so researching ahead.

i should add - i feel calmest and least hopeless in the evenings because I can look forward to sleeping. By day i am so so groggy I think it makes the anxiety worse.

I have. Fluoxetine with Mirtazapine (plus others).
It worked fine once I got used to it. They both can make you sleepy.

I take 40 mg Citalopram and 30 mg Mirtazapine and have taken Citalopram for many years, the Mirtazapine was added about 6 years ago. The Citalopram has never made me sleepy but the Mirtazapine does. Saved my life.

I take sertraline with mirtazapine and pregabalin. It's been amazing for me, really gave me my life back from anxiety!
