Partner has been prescribed fluoxetine. Hes had it before but not while we've been together.
Hes been on it about a week, just over.
He's become very tired and feels like it's hard to be interested in anything and a tad grumpy.
He said it takes about a month until he feels normal again and then he will be more like himself.
Is this typical?
Is there anything I can do to make this time easier for him?
He said something thoughtless yesterday and I was upset (I didn't react badly I just tried to discuss it) but after sleeping on it I think I need to be more considerate of the fact he's dealing with feeling crap.
Is there anything I can do to help him? And has this medication worked well for others?
This is new to me

It does take a while to kick in but being a cunt is not a side effect so don’t let him use that as an excuse.

Grin no he's not like that, it was more he said something I took the wrong way and it wasn't even important.
I was just over sensitive on the moment. It's more that I don't want to make things harder for him while this is going on.
He's a good man and usually very bubbly so this transition has been difficult to see and I want to do what I can even if that's not very much at all to just not make it worse.

Fairly normal, takes a while to settle down.

It will settle down ,I started it in April and felt awful for about 4-6 weeks major appetite loss , not sleeping great and felt so nauseous all the time☹️.

But persevered and now feel absolutely fine , I took it for my anxiety and with that and my prescribed HRT seems to keep my anxiety at a manageable level ,even feel a wee bit of my confidence returning back first for a long time.

Hang in and persevere it was worth it.

I'm glad it's helped youFlowers
Yes it's anxiety in this case too, I hope he adjusts soon for his sake because he's more fed up than when he started!
