Emetophobia scared of going to sleep

So my toddler has had runny nappies for a couple of days and I am terrified that it may be a sickness bug (she had this about a month ago and my partner and myself ended up being sick so must have been a bug although toddler only had runny nappies). Surely she can't have another bug!? I am terrified of waking up in the night suddenly to vomit. Like really scared. I have just taken 2 x 2mg Diazepam as my anxiety is so bad around this. Also some Buccastem. I am having CBT although still in the early stages. I am so scared I think I just need a hand hold 😢😢

I have the anxiety you get just before you know you are about to vomit and it's horrible as I don't know if it's just the anxiety or am I ill and about to be sick 😫

Hand hold OP.

Can you distract your thoughts by doing something else for a while until the diazapam starts to work?

@DandelionPocket thank you for your reply. I have been trying to watch friends but I just can't concentrate and have hardly been able to eat today. My dd is being dropped off soon and partner will follow shortly after so hopefully will feel better then!

It can be really difficult when you're thoughts are spinning! This feeling will pass, it might not feel like it, but it most definitely will.

My favourite distraction tactic is putting the radio on, signing along, and tidying out a cupboard/sort through a pile of mess. During that time I will forgot about the anxiety and even if it's for 30seconds, it reminds me I can stop the thoughts.

It's probably your toddler teething, nappies can be revolting when this happens. Have you checked to see if there are any new teeth or swollen gums?

If its teething it's unlikely they will vomit.

@DandelionPocket the current feeling will pass I know that rationally but my anxiety in general is really bad at the moment also feeling very low after a traumatic couple of years. I am having the anxiety about vomiting everyday at he moment it's exhausting. I have been taking Diazepam to deal with things since November last year but my Dr will no longer prescribe them to me after I have finished this current pack so have to try and deal with the anxiety in a different way.

Sorry I rambled lol

@Nidan2Sandan this had crossed my mind but she had never had any symptoms related to teething before, we have been very lucky. Especially not runny nappies. Apparently the runny nappies when teething is related to the extra drool but she doesn't ever drool lol

@Nidan2Sandan also, strangely I am not so much worried about dd vomiting more myself :/
