Increasing Citalopram from 10mg to 20mg

Painintheass22 · 27/06/2022 22:55

2nd thread for an extra bit of traffic and encouragement.

after being on 10mg of Citropalm for around 17 days, I requested for my dose to be increased to 20mg as 10mg wasn’t doing anything. Doctor agreed, so I took my first 10mgx2 this evening.

Again as usual I’m reading up on negative reviews on other medical forums 😐 overthinking.
So like my other thread, please share your positive Citropalm stories especially those who increased from 10 to 20.

I believe it can take a few weeks to help so may be a bit soon to expect real change.
I upped my dose. No issues.

Hang on in there, it's not immediate! Will take a week or so to get into your system and stabilise.

Painintheass22 · 27/06/2022 23:34

@Wolfiefan has it really made a difference to your life?

@Jason118 i was like this with the 10mg...waiting and waiting and nothing drastically improving. Hope 20mg works and no big side effects. How did u find it?

amxiety is easier to move through

LovePoppy · 27/06/2022 23:42

It can take 3-6 weeks to properly notice a difference

Citalopram literally changed my life after I had PND and post trauma OCD

I'm now on sertraline as safer for
Pregnancy and BF but remember that the citalopram took a few weeks to work

Hang in there, try your best to stay positive and be proud you have taken steps to feel better x

My DH went straight onto 40mg when he started on it. The only side effect he reported was it making him tired, but I’d disagree and say it relaxed him so he was finally able to sleep.

KangarooKenny · 28/06/2022 06:47

And he felt no better for the first month, then there were little signs of it working. I’d say he was still getting better every month until he felt the full effect around 6 months.

Wolfiefan · 28/06/2022 07:46

I was on citalopram for months after being so unwell I had to give up work. I did a lot of CBT. I am now on Prozac instead and it’s been a complete lifesaver. Good luck OP.

Jason118 · 28/06/2022 12:48

@Painintheass22 it was my other half - took around 3-4 weeks.

Painintheass22 · 28/06/2022 20:45

Thanks everyone. My moods are so extreme. Up and down. I just hope this helps 😢

Following as I’ve just started on 10mg but wondering if it’s too low. I started on a low dose as I always get an allergic reaction whennever I’ve tried ADs before so never got more than a couple of days before stopping. Hoping this one works.

Jason118 · 29/06/2022 13:41

Other half has been on it for 10 years now.

takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 02/08/2022 21:41

How are you feeling now OP? Hope things have settled x

Painintheass22 · 03/08/2022 22:10

@takeasadsongandmakeitbetter hey, no better, if anything worse 😔

Going to try to link my other thread here, not sure if I will do it right but I will try
