I take them first thing in the morning. The doc prescribed amitriptyline low dose to help me sleep. I'm not exaggerating when I say they're life savers.

I had the same problem the first time I was prescribed sertraline (didn't sleep for 3 days) and went on citalopram- didn't have any sleep issues at all on it. I took it in the morning just because that's when I already took some meds. I did find I had to eat first or it upset my stomach.
Funnily enough when I tried sertraline again about 5 years later (citalopram had stopped working) it didn't give me the same issues

I take mine around 2pm. I'm on 40mg and don't sleep well all the time but that time works best for me.
