Time off work?

Over the last couple of months my mental health seems to have deteriorated. I'm constantly irritable, tearful and feel so stressed and overwhelmed. I'm suffering more and more migraines I think because of feeling stressed and my blood pressure is now high. I keep forgetting things and have managed to fall over twice and am now suffering with knee pain. The house is a mess and I'm overwhelmed by my job. I was thinking that perhaps I should get signed off work for a couple of weeks to try and get back on top of things, but I'm worried that is just putting things off and maybe I'm better off trying to find a way I can carry on with work. I have taken sertraline for years but it doesn't seem to be helping now. Do you think a couple of weeks off would help?

I would definitely talk to your GP and tell them how you are feeling and see what they say. If they think you need some time off work, they may sign you off. However, what is going to stop you going back to this place as soon as you go back to work? Things can build up again- work will be the same & things may soon get back on top of you, so longer term you may need to speak to your manager, or be referred to Occupational Health or get some wider support. Good luck.
