DS is struggling. He is diagnosed with ASD but his notes say there are symptoms of ADD too.

He is definitely not hyperactive. But he is so disorganised and so anxious that it is really impeding his life. He is quite chaotic. I'd love toknow if any medication could calm his mind and keep it on track. When I look them up, the side effects terrify me: increased depression and irritability? He really doesn't need that.

Bump. Does no one have any experience of this? DS is away right now but has been struggling massively recently and is about to go into final year of uni next year. I'd love to know whether ti would be worth his while investigating ADD medication.

Yes, emotional dysregulation is one of my main symptoms of ADHD and a slow release stimulant has made a huge difference to the quality of my life.

You say your child isn’t hyperactive. This may not show physically but might present as racing thoughts.

@HMG107 - Thank you so much for your reply. That was very useful. I;d never thought of the H in ADHD as being htoughts. That definitely makes sense with him. And it is very good to know that for you the medication helped with the emotional dysregulation.

Thanks for the tip about reposting. I will post there too.
