With Sertaline you can often feel worse before you feel better. However they aren’t for everyone. People who seem to do well on Sertraline tend to feel awful on Citalopram and vice versa (anecdotally) so it’s probably worth a call to your GP. I wouldn’t just stop cold though - it’s early days and you sound like you might need something to help you at the moment.

You need to speak to your GP about this, not random people on the Internet who may, or may not have taken this medicine.

If you can't speak to your GP today, your pharmacist or 111 may be able to advise.

What time are you taking them? Obviously, it's different for everyone, but I had to take them in the morning to be able to sleep at night.

Speak to your GP. It will take a little while to get used to them. I'm glad I did. They saved me.

I've been on it for years. It gets worse before it gets better this is true but don't wait it out. It's important you speak to your gp.

I take them in the morning. I spoke to my gp yesterday and she just said it takes time.
I just don't know if it's worth it as I was sleeping ok.

I am just into my 3rd week on Sertraline for depression/anxiety.) (Sad things happened over last 18 months that I have reacted to). There have been quite a few side effects which have been tough...but hanging in there. However over last 3 days about 2-3 hours after taking it I get quite bad facial flushing and once accompanied by a headache. Feel very spaced out too. Had anyone else experienced anything similar? I really will cope if it's normal. How long for most people for side effects to diminish. Thanks.

I had about three weeks of pretty rough side affects (everything on the side affects info on the leaflet including the rarer ones! I was hallucinating for about 3 nights). However, I hung in there and it has really made a huge difference to my life.

I was on it for about a year - the first month was absolutely the worst. I think it even says in the leaflet that it is to be expected. Please stick with it, it worked very gradually for me but it got me to a steadier place. I felt it helped with my anxiety first, then (less noticeably) the depression I was struggling with. Once it gave me that leg-up, I was able to properly engage in counselling and use other tools to help myself. The side-effects were initially awful and I wondered if I'd ever be able to feel like a normal person again, but it was worth sticking with and I don't know how different my life would be if I hadn't stuck with it.

If you're not feeling any better in a few weeks, maybe talk to your doctor about another medication.

It absolutely can make you feel worse before you feel better. If you're at all concerned or it feels like it's getting worse phone your GP back.

Thank you for your advice....I am definitely going to stay with it for another week b4 contacting gp...but you do feel as if its another person living in your shoes!! And wonder how you will ever get back to you...seems so far off.
