My 16 yr old daughter has severe anxiety and ptsd. Things have got so bad that we have had several visits to A&E but been sent home each time. This time she has been kept in a local hospital for 10 nights in a children's ward. We were referred to Springfield by our CAMHS doctor but because they had no beds she has had to stay in here for the past 5 nights due to the Bank holiday. We have a meeting in the morning where if they say there are still no beds they might try and send us home again. I literally can't have her home again. She will end up killing herself or me but they won't listen. Can I refuse to take her home? Has anyone got any experience of this who can offer any advice?

Oh God I’ve walked this path. Do you mean the Priory Springfield? Try to get into Rochford adolescent unit.

I would explain that you are extremely concerned for her safety and yours, explaining that you love her very much and want help for her.
do you know the root of the problems for your daughter?
I had extremely bad anxiety and still do through my teens and adulthood, mine was due to earlier childhood trauma and bulling both made me fold. I have found having a very good therapist has helped work out issues. Teen years are a hard time the all over the place hormones and change in brain is a breading ground for anxiety on its own. How is she feeling in herself? Has she told you what is making her feel this way? Does she have underlying condition like bio polar? Sorry for the question but it gives better idea if it’s emotional or mental health condition to what help she really needs.

I would say if they have kept her in over the weekend it means they are concerned - they would not have kept her in if not. I would be prepared for them to discuss out of area placements tomorrow. Not ideal at all but it may well be the best option. If they do discharge her, I would expect significantly input from the crisis team. Has she been seen by psych since she has been on the ward?

She experienced a bit of bullying in year 9, year 10 was a write off with Covid plus 5 bereavements. She had a controlling boyfriend then was sexually assaulted in January so now has PTSD. It has all combined to create psychotic episodes including voices and hallucinations telling her to harm herself and now us. She has severe anxiety and they think she .as have personality disorder but as she's only 16 they can't diagnose it til she's 18. She has attempted suicide 3 times. They are saying they will but some support in place for her at home but I live in my own with her. I frightened to close my eyes. What is Richford Adolescent Unit? She has been seen by 1 person since Weds

Rochford Adolescent unit is a psychiatric hospital for teens. It is equiped with its own classrooms and the teaching staff are excellent, its also an exam centre so kids can take their gcse there. My teen was an in patient when she was 15 was sectioned and spent 2 months there and a further month at home on a section 17 before being discharged. She never needed to go back. Thanks to the teachers we were able to get an EHCP for our daughter and our daughter was able to get into a SEN college.

our daughter is now 19 and with adult services. Currently going through another crisis , we are hoping to keep her out of in patient care.
