I have struggled to get settled on an antidepressant after a breakdown in October, I seem to suffer the worst side effects particularly a racing heart.
I've tried many tablets and now on fluoxetine which I can tolerate slightly more ( but not by much)
I have been taking them for a week so far and I feel pretty awful. Just looking for some positive stories ( i know everyone reacts differently)
This feels like a neverending hell that will never end. I wish I wasn't here sometimes .

Hi, @Misskittycat16, sorry you've been having such a hard time Flowers

I've been taking fluoxetine for about 18 months after a traumatic event caused my mental health to plummet. Initially it was for depression but at the end of last year my dose was increased because I had started feeling pretty anxious too.

Personally I have found it to be the best thing I could have done to get me out of the dark place I was in. I really couldn't see a way forward to feeling better or more like myself before I started it. I'm having counselling now too (which I couldn't have engaged with before the antidepressants) and I think the two together are helping me gradually move towards feeling better.

I hope you can have a similarly positive story, all the best Smile

Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. So pleased to hear it helped you, sounds like you went through a hard time.

Hopefully my symptoms will ease soon , I am due to start CBT on Tuesday so hoping that will help too.

Fluoxetine saved me when I was in a bad way with depression. but you've got to give it time, it took me 3 weeks before I started to have moments where I felt better, but bear with it. I wish you well Flowers
