Taking time off work

I want to, no I need to, take some time off as I just can’t cope. I need to get my head straight in a silent house for a bit, without being pulled in all directions. I feel permanently sick.

My question is, what do I tell my boss? I’m a teacher and my head isn’t very nice.😢

I think if you are feeling this way then you need to speak to the GP. They will be able to signpost you for support and issue a sick note. This isn’t something a week at home is going to solve by the sounds of it.

you do need to make it clear to your head that it is an issue of your mental health, employers have to be very careful where MH is concerned so it should mean she has to be nicer than her usual self, or she could be seen as contributing to your issues. I hope things feels easier for you soon Flowers

Went in to work today and I’ve just lost my temper with my children because they’re messing about at bedtime and I have an absolute ton of work to do.

The thing is, if I have some time off I’ll be landing my colleagues in it. 😢

If you broke your leg you would give it the time needed to heal, give your MH the opportunity to heal. MH is not less important than physical health. You owe it to yourself and your family. You can’t pour from an empty cup!

your colleagues will cope, the head will have to get cover. Stop thinking about them and think about what you need. Phone in sick and phone the Dr, take care of yourself Flowers

If you're not well enough to be at work then you need to call in sick, exactly like you would if you had a physical illness. Once you've actually made the call just that will help you to feel better because you'll have made a decision and taken a positive step for your mental health.

You're no good to anyone if you burn out. You need to look after yourself.
