Question about sertraline

Hi everyone
I have been taking setraline 50mg for 4 weeks now.
I can’t say I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my mental health as of yet. Can I ask anyone who takes sertraline how long it took them to start feeling better? Thank you

Usually atleast 6 weeks

Hi, 50mg is a low dose so if you have severe anxiety or depression, it may not do much. I would have thought you should have felt a difference by now. Perhaps visit your GP and ask to go on 100mg. The most I've been on is 200mg for my anxiety.

I started on 50mg but didn't really notice a difference until it was increased to 100

Thank you everyone

I’ve been told that it can take up to 12 weeks to work. However I’m not sure if this is 12 weeks on the same dose or from the initial start? Can anyone advise? Thank you

My GP started me on 50mg then at my 4 week check up she increased it to 100mg and said that is considered half a dose

200mg is a full adult dose.

50mg would usually be a starting point to get your body used to it. They start slowly as problems can manifest in some people. I would be expecting the prescriber to be looking to increase the dose to at least 100mg.

Yes I was the same. After a year or so and feeling better / change in my circumstances it was reduced to 50mg again and I stopped taking it after another 6 months.
i went on it after having a bad reaction to fluoxetine (Prozac) and was much better on sertraline. I hope you’re feeling better soon x

When you increased the dose from 50 to 100mg did the side effects get worse again?
