Death anxiety

My 10 year old has been worrying and crying about death for about 5 days on and off. He's had very little exposure to death, no pets have died no elderly relatives have died, no morbid TV or news etc. He's say 'life's so precious why does it have to end'. We've given him coping skills and lots of affirmation, he seems a little better. How long would you expect this to last?

Watching, because I’m in my 30s and still struggling with this!

Any idea what’s set this off, OP?

I am 42 and becoming more anxious about death. Not my own but death of others. My parents, close step parents and horses are all elderly and it does play on my mind that they will start popping off soon.

I get anxious that they will start going in quick succession. I try to keep reminding myself it is just part of life, we all die.

I know this probably wasn't helpful, sorry

My DD started to worry about death. I just told her that we don't think about what happened before we were born (when we weren't here), so we don't need to think about what happens after we've died.

I think I went through a phase like this when I was about 10 my mum said it lasted a couple weeks. I think at that age it had just occurred to me how final death is and I became really worried about people I love (and myself) dying and being gone forever. The phase passed and I didn't really think too much about it after that.
