Hi, I am on Citalopram 10mg for just over a month. There are good days and there are difficult days. I was hoping it gets better! I take it for anxiety. I have switched the time I take, evening, morning and then evening again. If I take it too late I find it makes me very sleepy but also slightly anxious, I wake up more at night. In general, I am feeling slightly better since I am taking it, but it is difficult from time to time when anxiety returns. I don't know if increasing the dose to 20mg will help or make it more difficult...Thanks a lot! SmileFlowers

I've managed ri wean myself off a few years ago but how you're feeling is normal for the first few months- doesn't necessarily mean you need a higher dose. I found it best to take it in the morning- made me feel a bit floaty til lunch but not in a bad way

It took me about 6 weeks for side effects to even off when I started out - my symptoms still broke through though so my dose was upped to 20 and later again to 30. It helped a lot to keep a mood diary. I'd write a quick note each evening, highlighting any tough moments, any elation, and scaling my mood (in my case it was both anxiety and depression) from 1 to 10. Keep at it, talk about it with your doc, and hopefully it helps you as much as it helped me

Hello! I'm on the same dose as you. I have been on it for a few years now. I take mine in the morning as I find that works best for me. I have been on 20mg before when I've needed it - of course in discussions with my doc first. I would wait a couple of more weeks before upping the dose, and see how you feel then. If you have any questions ask away. I hope you're doing okay Thanks

Thanks so much for your answers. I will see my gp next week and see what advice I get. I am feeling better definitely, if I take it around 6-7pm helps me sleep better, it has sedative effect on me, but if I take it too late, I wake up at night slightly anxious and find it difficult to go back to sleep. I was quite anxious before Citalopram but I don't know what is the normal now, if I need a higher dose. I should have been on ssri long time ago, it would have made everything easier. Daffodil
