its all getting a bit much..........

the stress of moving house.........ds1s appaling behaviour.....having to decorate a whole house on my own by this weekend......packing.....trying to keep this place tidy and up to date with the washing.....look after 3 kids......

I got up so late this morning that ds1 hasnt gone to school. We are all still in PJs. I know I should be down at the house decorating now but I have lost all motivation and enthusiasm. I'm so tired but got so much to do.....It's all getting a bit much......I'm just wandering around the flat crying at the moment wondering what to do first....its all getting a bit much now......

Moving house is a nightmare at the best of times, but on your own and with 3 kids - wow, you have my wholehearted admiration.

So, it's one day, you shouldn't beat yourself up -what you're doing is not easy.

Sorry if I'm trivialising, don't mean to - but how about making a short do-able list such as:-

Get me dressed
Get x dressed
Get y dressed
Get z dressed
Pack books away

Perhaps you just need to be able to see that you are coping and you are getting things sorted - please don't let one setback ruin things for you.

I've packed some videos and dvds so far.......still not dressed though......ds1 is really getting to me now......

Titania.... You cant do anything when your tired and stressed.. can you get anyone to take the kids for a couple of hours so you can have a good sleep??? Might find you work twice as fast and once you feel more refreshed.......If thats impossible try drinking a few glasses of water to refresh you and go into a room on your own and take 10 deep breaths then start again...

It really does work for me and hope it will for you!

What's he doing? Is it possible to settle him with some cutting out/colouring - maybe even bunging a few things in a box for you?

got nobody to help me.....

I have tried getting him to help me pack but he is just throwing things. He is being naughty, backchatting, not doing as he is told, running around, hitting his sister for no reason.........

Titania, maybe I am missing something - but get ds1 dressed and take him to school! I know he'll be late - deal with that as you see best, but he will be out of your way and you will have a little more headspace and actual packing time until he comes home again.

I know, moving gives you so many nightmares you don't know where to start. Doesn't matter where you start - just get him to school and do one job that willmake you feel you have achieved something. And that will make you feel better.

Titania - it probably just feels like that - bet you could be there and back in an hour. Kids don't have to be turned out in their sunday best to get past the door-get coats and shoes on and get him there.

He's probably bored - pls try for all your sakes.

stuff getting anything more done today in the house, if you're knackered you need a rest. and you have done absolutely tons in the house the last week and really deserve a rest if you get ds1 into school, at least he'll be occupied for the afternoon, and you'll get a bit of a break.

right........I'm going to the house to decorate........the kids can play and run around downstairs and i will do upstairs. I don't really want to but at the same time I just want it done and over with so we can concentrate on packing and moving in........

Hi Titania, just posted somewhere else for you then saw this... You poor thing. Moving IS really stressful. I just moved myself at 30 weeks pregnant only one ds though (3yrs). Is their nobody at all that can help you out?What about of an evening? You could organise a painting party... I know it sounds mad but i've done it before and it does work! Cart the kids off, if you can, gather a handful of friends and tell them to bring a bottle and a brush! Adult company for you (because you sound like you need some) and help with the house . I don't know all your circumstances but if you can do that it'll be worth it. Good luck.

Hi Titania - hope it went OK for you . I empathise as we've moved house twice in 2004 and it is stressful!

Have you considered just leaving the decorating just to remove some of the pressure? We're currently turning a blind eye to our selection of vinyl wallpapers and crusty carpets until we can face doing some decorating. As long as rooms are clean that's good enough for me at the mo

I agree with Chonky, leave the decorating or just do the room you will spend the most time in if you really feel you have to do some - there will be plenty of time to live with it and you can get the decorating done once you're settled.

I've done all the decorating apart from a bit of touching up where the masking tapes taken bits off. I've had to do it all myself. No friends to help. DH did the rollering on one room and thats it.

I have been at the house decorating from 9am til 11pm most days with 3 kids (well 2 til 3.30!). Am so tired.

Me and DH had a huge arguement last night about anything and everything.

I can't get hold of the carpet bloke.....

The water tank in the airing cupboard leaked through the kitchen ceiling.....so we need a new tank, but as its a specialist tank, its taking ages to get hold of. When we move in on saturday, we wont have any hot water til monday.

I've got to go and start packing now.......

I'm so tired. Fed up. Worn out.

Hi Titania. It's no wonder it is all getting to you. Moving is definately one of the most stressful things there is, and to be trying to decorate before you go - AAAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!! But you will manage it all - you have coped with much more up to now. And it will all have been worth it once the big move is over and you are settled. Just think about how excited you were about getting the house and try to get some of those feelings back. Think about your reasons for moving and how exciting it will be once you are in your new home. Try to stop worrying about how you are going to get it all done - you will, it will all happen somehow! I have changed my mobile number, and will give you my new one once I have got it all set up! Have missed speaking to you. xxx
