I've taken my first dose (10mg ) but I genuinely don't feel any different (if anything I'm just hungry!) Is that normal??

10mg is quite high for a first dose. It’s a sedative, it’s supposed to make you feel calmer, more relaxed, thoughts and reactions are a bit slowed. 10mg would make me sleepy for a few hours.

I felt like I was floating , lovely stuff. Gp wont prescribe it unless an absolute necessity.. I'm gutted .. I felt all warm inside and sleepy , good for sleep

It doesn’t do anything for me either. I didn’t feel any different at all!

Onlyrainbows · 11/04/2022 16:31

I yawned for like a couple of minutes, but if anything I feel "sharper" at work.

I don't feel anything, just no anxiety.

10mg is a high dose.

I was on 5mg as a first dose and just made me a bit more relaxed. Not like a zombie or anything. The one time I took 10mg at once I fell asleep for an hour (on a plane, bad turbulence!), but woke up and was just a bit more relaxed than usual. You might feel a bit sleepy or more relaxed than before you took it, but I find it doesn’t do more than that. How long ago did you take it? I found it took about an hour to have full effect.

Onlyrainbows · 11/04/2022 16:36

Yes, I'm aware it's a high dose, but in my case I'm not supposed to take it for more than three days. Maybe I'm indeed "calmer" hard to tell.

I think the degree of calmness is also dependent on the level of anxiety or agitation, if that makes sense?

I’ve taken 5mg doses at work in the past, and it’s helped me get anxiety down to a level where I can focus enough to effectively do my job.

I’ve also taken 10mg doses in the past, when I’ve been very agitated, and felt like it did nothing….

Onlyrainbows · 11/04/2022 16:50

I took it about 90mins ago but I thought it was a relatively quick effect?

LeniGray that at least would explain why I'm able to "focus" more. Yesterday I was feeling "on edge" but I was only today that I could collect my prescription.

Really depends how agitated/distressed you were when you took it. You won't really notice an effect if you take it when you're not terribly anxious. 10 is a lot to be taking unless you are desperate. I find 4 calms me within minutes if I'm very anxious and doesn't make me drowsy. I'd honestly save it for times when you really feel you can't cope.

In the evening they definitely helped. It made me feel like my thoughts were way more "organised".
