Just that. For DD who can't seem to tolerate ADs well and has no motivation or energy. She has tried a few.

I think if the first line meds aren't doing the job she should request a referral to a psychiatrist.

Has she looked into magnetic brain stimulation? It's meant to be available on the NHS now for depression.

It's called rTMS

Has she tried Venlafaxine? I'm no expert - am on Sertraline and finding the early days hard going.

I am much older but tried a fair few. Problem I have is that antidepresents tend to reduce motivation and make me more sluggish. Dont think people get referred onto a psyh easily these days as the bar is so high!

Sluggish and no motivation - can you access counselling? Have you looked at adhd/asd etc.

But yes go back to go rather than getting recommendations online.

Antidepressants for general depression symptoms don't really give you energy or make you more energetic or motivated - they stop you getting worse and allow you to recover but you need to have your own motivation to do that I'm afraid. At least, that my 15yrs of experience of depression and antidepressants. I was on citalopram then sertraline. I'm actually much more stable on St John's Wort and have fewer side effects (last 3yrs).
