When my baby was born 6 months ago I had lots of family help, in terms of time and materially in terms of baby clothes etc. Now, my family all seem to have moved on from the excitement stage and not so keen to visit or come to a meet-up. And the baby seems to be harder and harder work for me, so now is when I feel I could do with some real help. I feel pretty abandoned, but love my LO. Just don't know how to approach this without sounding like a spoiled brat for missing how lovely it all was in the beginning.

Some one told me when I gad my first daughter that it never gets easier, the challenges just change. How right they were. Wait til you hit the terrible twos and obnoxious, rude, opinionated 7's, and I hear it still doesn't get easier beyond this point.

Join a toddler group. I thought I would never fit in to these things and it took me a while to find one I really liked, but the support network is amazing and everyone is going through exactly what you are (or have just been through it!). When your lo is crawling they really start to enjoy it and give you some free time for a coffee and natter.
The challenges really do just change with time, and with my lo at 19 months, I still feel quite overwhelmed. You think you've cracked it and then something else crops up! Suppose that's just parenting though.

i did find it got easier when my dd reached about 18mths, yes she was into everything, but she was gorgeous at that age and not too much hard work.
i would say that you are doing the hardest bit right now, i didnt enjoy the first year of either of my dc's lives that much but i love it now they are 8 and 4, they entertain each other, or themselves..

Keep going, it will get easier next year!
