Stopping Antidepressants

Has anyone here successfully stopped taking antidepressants? As in had ADs for a shortish period (1 year or so) and been able to stop and been fine?

Or will I be on these forever? They do have physical side effects I don't like and this was the best of a bad bunch. Tried a few and had horrific side effects first. This one works and physically I'm sort of ok but physically I'd feel better if I wasn't taking them. If that makes sense.

That's why I am asking if anyone has had short term use and success.

@thesootherfairy I stopped a few weeks ago and am ok at the moment...I think the sunny weather has helped me and keeping myself busy... meeting friends, going back to the office.

I stopped previously and had to go back on them as was feeling crap due to stress but going forward I need coping mechanisms and to keep myself positive occupied.

I hope you're fine comingFlowers

Here's what RCP recommends: Stopping antidepressants

I've been on one or more for most of my adult life, and personally every time one has stopped working and I've stopped it, I've soon ended up on a different one. It's been frustrating, since I've never found one that both seemed to do anything and didn't have longterm side effects for me. I'm in the process of giving yet another try to coming off them for good, although this time very slowly, and trying to be prepared to have to cope with worse mental health. So far no catastrophies.
