Hi.
I'm hoping you can help with personal experiences with sertraline.
I've recently been through (and still going through to a little extent) a huge family crisis that's completely out of our control. this created huge anxiety for me and i really struggled to manage this for the first time in my life. I'm usually manage my mental health and any anxiety really well with lifestyle and exercise.
Before I saw the GP I did the NHS questionnaire and it showed I wasn't depressed but had sky high anxiety.
The GP have me propranolol but I couldn't take it due to an already very low resting heart rate. So he's put me on sertraline which I've been on for 6 weeks now.
The family situation is now a lot lot better and I feel that it's more than manageable and I would be able to cope with it without the tablets.
I know the fact it feels manageable is probably due to the sertraline and I've not been on them for long but I'm really struggling with the side effects.
My memory is shot, I can't concentrate and follow through thoughts and can't remember words a lot- in my job this is a nightmare for me. My skin has also broken out in hives and eczema. I know this is due to the tablets as I've never had this before even when highly anxious.
I just want to say I'm looking for peoples personal experience here and not medical advice as I'm going to speak to the GP on Monday but I was wondering if anyone had been on sertraline and come off fairly rapidly and if the improvement in the anxiety is all down to sertraline and should I persevere. I'm a bit concerned that as I wasn't depressed it's actually just all a bit unnecessary now and as the external stressors have subsided I can manage this without medication.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks
