SHOUT

From their webpage "A text service for people who need immediate support".

Within a minute of my text they reply saying they're receiving high demand and there will be a wait of several hours and to call 999 if I'm at risk.

So, no help and feel worse after trying to get some support.

I understand your frustration, SHOUT is a volunteer service which relies on there volunteers to do shifts, they are not professionals. They are ordinary people who do 6weeks training and then are there to support not advise. There was a tik tok video that went viral advertising SHOUT and since then the demand has been high. I know all this as I volunteer for them. If you have texted in then a volunteer will respond as soon as they are able too.
Have you tried contacting the Samaritans as well if you are struggling. This might be another option or going on the mind website which can be helpful. I hope someone gets back to you soon

I understand they are a volunteer service, but if they cannot meet demand then they need to update their website.

I often call Samaritans, but at that moment I was at work and wanted a text service.

The feeling of being shut down when you've tried to get help is very isolating.

Thank you for being a volunteer.

I'm not sure if you can private message on here, I'm happy to help/listen if I can.

Thank you, that's really kind of you. I'm OK, the moment has passed and things are calm.
